Coming to Norgaard Island open-air cinema in May: Sunrise - a Song of Two Humans.
This silent movie made history: released in 1927, it won the Academy Award for Unique and Artistic Picture in 1929. Since then, it has consistently been voted one of the best movies in the history of film.
Based on Hermann Sudermann's short story "Die Reise nach Tilsit" (The Excursion to Tilsit"), it was directed by the celebrated German director F. W. Murnau, who brought Expressionist style and design to Hollywood. In fact, this was the first film he made in the U.S. It featured numerous innovations and at the time was one of the most expensive films ever made.
